Cheshunt 2012 in Hertfordshire, hosting the Canoeing and Kayaking Olympic Events
History
Cheshunt in Hertfordshire, just to the North West of London has a few claims to fame. Tesco has its headquarters here and Lotus cars & Debenhams were both founded here.
The town name comes from the Roman name for the area, Cestrehunt. The river Lee passes through it and was used for the transport of flowers and crops into London until superseded by road transport.
News
The 2012 Summer Olympics canoe and kayak events are to be held in the area. As stated above, the actual venue is currently in doubt.
